I had the wonderful opportunity to do a photoshoot of this wonderful young man this evening. He has a natural grace in front of the camera and was very welcome to using my new prop (an old wooden ladder found curbside). More to come from this great shoot. He and Emily also hooked up for an awesome little "couples shoot". Too cute!!! Stay tuned for more to come.
Greetings all. I have finally done it! After much pushing and shoving from family & friends I decided to create a print gallery available to you. I have posted a few of my nature pieces for now and as time allows I will grow the gallery to expand to many more for you to choose from. If there is a piece I have created that you are really interested in but do not see on the gallery yet, please let me know and I will post it there so you can grab it up. :-) Click on the banner here to visit the gallery. Enjoy!!!
Although I discovered this place about a week ago, I did not go check it out until yesterday due to time limitations. However, it was sooo worth it! From what I can gather (which is very little at this point), this used to be a childrens home or an orphanage of some sort. There is a main "house" that I am thinking were more like offices and then a long row that looks like a church building. It is in a really sad state as the whole bottom floor is basically a basement and full of water. The entry you see above would be the middle floor and then the "house" part has a 3rd floor above. When I went by yesterday I only did exterior shots but today I returned and went inside and peeked at some of the rooms in the hallway. Thought I really wanted to go further down the hallway, I resisted (or panicked ~ take your pick :-)) because it was very dark and I was alone. Plus at the end of the hallway, there was a reflection on the wall where the water was reflecting up from the basement and doing this haunting little dance. Oooooooooo.... Quite creepy, needless to say. It is also quite chilling being there and wonder what happened to the place? Why did it close down? Where did these children go to? But at the same time, it was quite an adrenaline rush being inside.
I am getting braver in my urban explorations, but still quite cautious. If you want to see more pics of the St. Vincent shoot, go here. Enjoy!!!
I spent my morning down at the City Arts Center here in OKC. I discovered Samantha Lamb had a showing and I just had to see it live and in person. Soo beautiful, so creative. There was twine strung from one end of the room to the other with spools of thread and keys hanging down. I sooo wanted to purchase one, but my current budget would not allow it. :-( Maybe later I can get her book instead. Check her out here on flickr. http://www.flickr.com/photos/samanthalamb/

One chapter of my life has closed and another is opening. A couple of weeks ago, upon discovering I would be returning to the "old" office, I decided it was time for a change. Luckily hubby agreed with me. Going back to the "old" office meant back to the old stress, the headaches, backaches, and literally feeling on edge anxiety attacks that I had been dealing with. I did not want that to be part of my life anymore. So I made a decision and turned in my 2 week notice. My last day was today and it feels good. Not just good, but GREAT!!! Don't get me wrong, I love the people I worked with but it was emotional, stressful, and overall exhausting. I gave too much and at the end of the day I had nothing else to give.
While spending time at the "newer" office, I began to realize many things. I was not stressed, I was not overwhelmed and I actually had a bit of peace left at the end of the day. Now I know that things will never be the same. Day one back at the new office, I was working the front desk and suddenly had this "elephant standing on my chest feeling". There is no other way to describe it. Day two back at the office I can feel the muscles in my between my shoulders and all along my neck tightening. I knew then that something definately had to HAD TO GIVE!!!
A few entries back I mentioned the song and at the time I did not feel the "are you who you want to be" part of it but in the last few weeks I have felt it. Freedom and growth are upon me and I am taking them by the reigns!!!
THIS IS YOUR LIFE by Switchfoot
Yesterday is a wrinkle on your forehead
Yesterday is a promise that you’ve broken
Don’t close your eyes, don’t close your eyes
This is your life and today is all you’ve got now
Yeah, and today is all you’ll ever have
Don’t close your eyes
Don’t close your eyes
This is your life, are you who you want to be
This is your life, are you who you want to be
This is your life, is it everything you dreamed that it would be
When the world was younger and you had everything to lose
Yesterday is a kid in the corner
Yesterday is dead and over
This is your life, are you who you want to be
This is your life, are you who you want to be
This is your life, is it everything you dreamed that it would be
When the world was younger and you had everything to lose
Don’t close your eyes
Don’t close your eyes
Don’t close your eyes
Don’t close your eyes
This is your life are you who you want to be
This is your life are you who you want to be
This is your life, are you who you want to be
This is your life, are you who you want to be
This is your life, is it everything you dreamed it would be
When the world was younger and you had everything to lose
And you had everything to lose
